My goal for N7 this year is to create a classroom community that not only fosters collaboration and inquiry, but one that also inspires a love for learning and feeling of togetherness. When students feel safe, welcomed, and valued, they are more willing to thrive and push themselves to be better at every available opportunity. This has become a core component of my philosophy for teaching, and my hope is that through my efforts, I can help each of my students to not only realize and understand their potentials, but to also ultimately surpass them.
This term we will be learning all bout Australia and Australian animals. Through this topic students will develop intercultural understanding as they learn to value their own cultures, language and beliefs and those of cultural backgrounds. They will come to understand how personal, group and national identities are shaped, and variable and changing nature of Australian culture. We will also be exploring the topic of community helpers and the important role they have in helping us feel safe and secure.
