The fourth and final part of Family Engagement is “Having High Expectation”. The research shows undeniably, that high parental expectations have the greatest impact on student achievement. Studies looking at teacher’s perception of positive attitude parents have towards their child’s education, teacher and school was significantly related to increased academic performance. This is measured by both standardized achievement testing and teacher ratings of the child’s classroom academic performance. Further, parent involvement was significantly related to academic performance above and beyond the impact of the child’s intelligence (IQ).
I would like to sincerely thank our wonderful staff for their fine efforts during this busy term and wish them a well-earned break. I would also like to thank the school community for the support that you have given to both the students and school in general. I wish everyone a safe and happy break and look forward to seeing you next term.
